Your guide to Packola custom Shipping Boxes, including materials, sizing, ordering, artwork, and delivery.
Product Information
What are Shipping Boxes?
Shipping Boxes are strong corrugated boxes designed for mailing, storage, and handling. They are impact-resistant and hold up well during transit. The technical structure is called an RSC, or Regular Slotted Container, which features two outer flaps that meet at the center on the top of the box and two outer flaps that meet at the center on the bottom of the box. Shipping Boxes require packaging tape for assembly.
What material do you use for Shipping Boxes?
Our Shipping Boxes are made from durable, sustainably sourced corrugated cardboard. Most Shipping Boxes use B-flute, which provides strong support for shipping heavier items.
What are the standard sizes for Shipping Boxes?
All Packola Shipping Boxes are fully custom-sized. There are no fixed standards, but customers often order sizes with interior dimensions (L x W x D) such as:
- 12” x 12” x 12”
- 12” x 12” x 6”
- 8” x 8” x 8”

What kind of boxes can I use for shipping?
For shipping, always use corrugated boxes. Corrugated material is designed to resist crushing, impacts, and stacking pressure.
Can I ship a Shipping Box without using external packaging?
Yes. You can ship a Shipping Box on its own. Always seal it with packaging tape to prevent tampering and to keep the flaps secure during transit. Reinforced water-activated tape is recommended for the strongest bond.
Are your Shipping Boxes recyclable?
Yes. Our corrugated materials are recyclable. Kraft Shipping Boxes also contain a percentage of recycled content.
Can you print inside the Shipping Box?
Yes. You can print on the outside only, the inside only, both sides, or choose a completely blank box.
Are Shipping Boxes reusable?
Yes. Shipping Boxes can be reused, upcycled, or recycled. For customer shipments, we recommend using new boxes to ensure consistent strength and appearance.
Ordering and Payment
How do I start ordering Shipping Boxes?
- Go to the Shipping Boxes product page.
- Select size, material, printed sides, and quantity.
- Add artwork in the 3D Design Studio, or choose the option to receive a dieline template if you wish to upload your own file.
- Add to cart and complete checkout.
How do I know what box size I need?
Packola uses interior dimensions. Follow these steps:
- Lay out all items you plan to pack.
- Arrange them as they would sit inside the box.
- Include protective materials such as bubble wrap or kraft paper.
Measure:
- Length: left to right
- Width: front to back
- Depth: top to bottom
We recommend adding 0.125" to 0.25" of space to each dimension for easier packing.
Can I order a sample?
Yes. Set the Quantity to 1 to order a single custom sample with your chosen size and artwork.
I am a reseller. Can you waive my sales taxes?
Yes. Send your resale certificate to tax-exempt@packola.com before placing an order.
Do you charge extra for multiple colors or full ink coverage?
No. Digital CMYK printing allows full color designs and full coverage print at no additional cost.
Artwork and Files
How can I design my box?
Start by configuring your Shipping Box on the product page. Select your dimensions, material, quantity, and printed sides. Once your box is configured, you will be prompted to add your artwork.
You can choose one of two options:
Design online
Select the option to design online to open the Design Studio. There, you can add logos, text, colors, and graphics and preview your box as you build it.
Upload your own artwork
If you already have a finished design, complete your purchase and upload your print-ready file using one of our dieline templates.
If you need help accessing the design tools or preparing your file, contact our team at info@packola.com.
Production and Printing
There is a QR code printed inside my Shipping Box. Is this a mistake?
No. The QR code is used for internal tracking during production. It is always placed in a hidden area, so it is not visible once the box is assembled.
