Overview

Make a Good Impression by Shipping Your Goods With Sturdy Corrugated Mailers

As the e-commerce industry expands, the demand for packaging also increases. According to Smithers, a well-known provider of strategic market research reports, the “packaging demand will grow steadily at 2.8% to reach $1.05 trillion in 2024.” This is in conjunction with the projected growth of global retail sales, which is a staggering “9.5% compound annual growth rate from 2020-2025.”

Now more than ever, packaging is of the utmost importance. If you want your business to succeed, you have to invest in high-quality packaging that will keep your products safe while in transit and impress your customers when they receive them. Custom corrugated mailers are the perfect packaging for shipping. They are durable, weather-resistant, fully customizable, and suitable for almost all types of products.

To learn more about the advantages of using corrugated mailers, here are some quick facts that you need to know:

  • Corrugated mailers are available in three sustainably sourced and recyclable materials: standard corrugated cardboard that has a white base, premium corrugated cardboard that offers a smoother white surface and a slight sheen, and brown kraft corrugated cardboard that provides an organic look and feel.
  • Depending on your box dimensions, the material thickness can either be 1/16” E-flute corrugated cardboard or 1/8” B-flute corrugated cardboard.
  • Our corrugated boxes can be customized within the following ranges:
    • Length: 3" to 25"
    • Width: 2" to 25"
    • Depth: 1" to 15"

How to Pack Corrugated Mailer Boxes

Corrugated boxes are ideal for packing and transporting your goods because of their durability and range of sizes. But if you want to ensure that your products get to their destination safely, you need to know the most effective way to pack your corrugated mailer boxes.

Get the correct box dimensions. To ensure the safety of your products, you need to use corrugated mailers that have the correct size. If the boxes are too small, you won’t have space to fit the items inside. Make them too big and your products may bounce around inside the boxes, potentially incurring damage—a surefire way to make your customers unhappy. To prevent this, make sure you measure your products to get the correct dimensions for your corrugated mailer boxes.

Use custom box inserts. Even if you’re using mailer boxes with the correct dimensions, there may be some extra space left inside your packaging and your products can still move around. This is especially the case for items that have shapes that do not fit perfectly with your custom boxes such as bottles and jars. If you want to secure the contents inside your packaging, you can use box inserts to fill those extra spaces and ensure a snug fit. These add-ons can also make your products more presentable to your customers. Box inserts are perfect for subscription boxes and kits since they usually have multiple items in one box.

Complete your mailers with stickers or labels. Add your branding to your packages by using custom stickers or labels that feature your brand name or logo. You can also use these print materials to seal your mailer boxes and make them tamper-proof for extra security. But aside from additional protection, stickers and labels are also a great way to provide information to your customers and people who will handle the shipping of your products. A simple “Fragile” or “This Side Up” label on your packaging can go a long way in making sure that your items can be delivered safely.

Make your custom boxes weather-resistant. In an ideal world, your corrugated mailers are kept in a dry, cool, and safe place while in transit. However, there are certain situations where your custom mailer boxes can get exposed to moisture, the sun’s UV rays, and other outside elements while being shipped. These can cause damage to your packaging and the items stored inside. To prevent this, make sure that your custom boxes are weather-resistant by choosing the right materials and coating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between shipping boxes and mailer boxes?
A:

Shipping boxes are larger and used for bulky items, while mailer boxes are smaller and designed for individual or small items. Mailer boxes are ideal for e-commerce and don’t require adhesives for assembly.

Q: How do I know what box size I need?
A:

Packola measures the interior dimensions for box production, meaning the sizes you input are the measurements inside the box when it is folded. You can follow these steps to help gauge the box measurements you need:

  • Lay out and organize all the items you plan to put inside your box on a flat surface.
  • Stack them as you would when packing the box.
    • Include any decorative packaging material, such as bubble wrap or packaging foam.
  • Measure the dimensions accordingly in inches
    • The length should be the left-to-right dimension
    • The width is the front-to-back dimension
    • The depth/height is from the flat surface to the top of the tallest item
  • Add a 0.25" margin to each dimension to ensure easy packaging
Q: How much weight can your corrugated boxes support?
A:

Our corrugated boxes have a 32 ECT rating. Boxes with 32 ECT rating usually support the following weights:

  • E-flute: up to ~20-25 lbs
  • B-flute: up to ~30-40 lbs
Q: Is a mailer box easy to assemble?
A:

Yes. The mailer box ships flat and pre-scored. Follow the steps in the video to quickly assemble your custom box:

Q: Can I buy a single mailer box?
A:

Yes, you can order one (1) mailer box. We have no minimum quantity order. You can order as few or as many as you need.

Q: Can I ship a mailer box without using any other external packaging?
A:

Yes, you can. The corrugated cardboard is strong enough to withstand the rigors of shipping. However, we recommend using external packaging such as a shipping box to provide a better unboxing experience.

Q: How can I create my design?
A:

We have an Online Design Studio that makes it super easy to add logo, text, and graphics to your box within minutes. You can also use a professional desktop application like Adobe Illustrator® and send us the completed artwork. Already have a file but have questions about your design? Email our packaging experts at artwork@packola.com for a review.

Q: How can I get a dieline template?
A:

After completing your order, we’ll send you the dieline template file through your given email address.

Q: Why did you print a QR code on my custom boxes?
A:

The QR code makes it easier for us to track your orders while it’s in production. This means we get to finish it faster so you can receive it as early as possible. It won’t affect the overall look of your custom box since it’s printed on a hidden area.
